Of Skim Coats and a Subway Series that Matters!…..and Hobbit Hollow in Pictures!

Hello friends and welcome back!

Boy the week really flew by! And forget about the weekend. I mean foggetaboutit! Gotta try and put a Bronx accent on that last one. It’s all about voice inflection people.

Well it was quiet on the Hobbit Hollow front this week. I went to the Mets versus Yankees game at Citi Field in Queens Friday night. Wow what a night out! And what a game. I went with a couple of friends from work Tommy, Tim, and Brian. Tommy and I are Met fans and Tim and Brian are Yankee fans. So there was some friendly ribbing during the course of the game which was a lot of fun. Of course it’s always a lot better when your team wins and the Mets won. It was great. It was the first time that the outcome of the game mattered for both teams so the game was really exciting. I stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn at Citi Field. Here is a picture of the guys. We were in the nosebleed seats in the upper upper deck. Tim needed oxygen for a while. Especially after A-Rod got out.

It’s great to be there with the fans.

Terence had his homecoming football game at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. They won 31-0 which was good for morale. The other team was pretty good. They were bigger than Terence’ team so I thought it was going to be a closer game. I think Terence’ team just executed their  plays better. The offensive line played really well and I think that was the key. I wish the other team had scored. They got really close but fumbled and Terence’ team recovered.

So Sunday I got motivated for tile floor prep on the home front. When Jude and Zach pulled the tile up they left a bunch of nails behind and a splintered floor. Why I didn’t have them pull the nails out I’ll never know. I spent about 4 hours pulling nails and making sure there was nothing that would inhibit the layout of the tile. I must have pulled out 9 million nails. After I was done with the nails the guy from the tile store recommended giving the whole thing a skim coat of thinset. That was a great idea. It didn’t take that long either. It kind of smoothed the whole floor over so you can start off with a nice clean slate. Check it out.

Hmmm. Kind of hard to tell what I did but trust me it came out good.

Oh, by the way, my web guy put in another tab on the home bar. It’s called ” Hobbit Hollow in Pictures”. I really haven’t had time to do much with it but the plan is going to be to add a few photos every week so you can see the progress of the house from start to finish. It will be interesting.

I’m hoping to meet with Steve from Landworks Excavating this week to get a price and a start date on backfilling the Hobbit House. That will be exciting! I’m hoping to get him in there sometime in October.

Sorry I don’t have any other details out there this week. Hopefully next weekend we’ll give it a good shot!

Hang in there!

Jim
