A Winter Snow and a Thumb Revealed

Hello friends of Middle Earth and strangers from distant lands!

Welcome to the continuing saga of Hobbit Hollow….and continue we must.

Hmmm. Where to begin….

Well for the record what I said a few weeks back still holds true. We’re working like the devil every Saturday now over at 220 Central Park South. Trying to top off within the next three weeks. A serious accomplishment if we can pull it off. We even worked last Sunday over there to beat the blizzard of 2017. I think they called it Stella. Yeah that’s right. We worked Sunday to make a Monday pour on the 68th floor mezzanine level.

Pouring the 68th floor mezzanine level.

Kind of a confusing picture.

We did get the blizzard but the city didn’t get much in the way of snow. About 5 to 7 inches maybe. So it was a score to make the pour. We didn’t work the Tuesday of the storm but cleaned up Wednesday and went right back to work full throttle Thursday.

Hobbit house country got slammed with about 20 inches of the white stuff. Check it out.

I did get my cast off Friday which was great. Going to have to go to therapy so I can learn the exercises I need to do to get the use of my thumb back. It’s still incredibly swollen.

After the cast.

So those are the two pins they put in to the bones to hold everything together while it was healing. They basically go up to the base of my thumbnail. Kind of sickening in a way. He just took a pair of pliers and pulled them out like I would pull a nail out of a piece of wood. It was an erie feeling watching it all take place. I should have asked if I could take a video. It was pretty cool.

So the Editor and I went to see a show Saturday night which was great. We also went to the Guggenheim Museum during the day. If your visiting NYC put it on your list of things to do. I like it a lot. It’s not that big but the the layout is very cool. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the 50’s I believe. It’s a circular walk from bottom to top. Some really nice concrete work by the way if you’re into that. Check it out.

I forgot to take a picture of the outside. My fault. It’s a very interesting building architecturally.

So as far as Hobbit House building is concerned I’m not really sure where we stand. Especially as far as work is concerned. Might have to go in Saturday and Sunday next week. A potential bummer if ever there was one. I’ll get through it though. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with this one.

A few more pictures from the weekend if you’re interested.
